Production / Computer Technician I

We currently have an immediate opening for a Production/Computer Technician I to join our team. They will follow a process that includes setting up completed diagnostic kits, verifying operation, performing remote software installation on our client's computers and diagnostic kits, accurately documenting their work, reporting any issues to management, and preparing the kits to be shipped to our customers. The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years' experience in a technical/manufacturing environment with experience repairing laptop computers.

Responsibilities

  • Set up completed diagnostic kits, ensure diagnostic kits are built/functioning to standards for safety, quality and efficiency and are ready to be shipped to the customer on time
  • Perform remote software installations
  • Adhere to production schedules, metrics, and processes for building complete diagnostic kits
  • Check for physical and functional defects and identify and distinguish quality rejections; perform equipment failure analyses on diagnostic laptops, software, and accessories
  • Work with Customer Service and Training departments to help assemble special order diagnostic kits
  • Investigate ongoing product issues and alert customer service and sales departments; provide support to other departments regarding issues with diagnostic kits.
  • Keep track of inventory utilizing web-based inventory software
  • Perform Computer Repairs with solid troubleshooting abilities

Qualifications

  • Strong background with computers, either through previous work experience or education
  • Ability to perform equipment failure analyses and trouble-shoot complex production equipment/system hardware and software issues
  • Knowledge of Windows operating systems and driver installation
  • Ability to read and carefully follow instructions
  • Knowledge of software installation and implementation processes
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools
  • Must be able to work well independently and with teammates
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • General troubleshooting and multi-tasking skills; willing to learn product-specific troubleshooting

Required Experience

  • 1-2 years' experience in a technical/manufacturing environment
  • 1-2 years' experience repairing laptop computers

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Associate degree in Information Technology/electronics preferred
