V-MACIII Software

When Mack Trucks first got serious about bringing electronics on their trucks in the late 1990s, they dubbed the electrical system on their engine V-MAC III. This essentially covers all Mack engines produced from 1998 to around 2004, give or take a year or two. It was with the EPA mandated 2004 emissions that they started to move away from V-MAC III. Mack now calls these trucks “Mack Legacy” vehicles.

As of today, you can purchase the Premium Tech Tool software for Mack, Volvo, or Both. While this software is compatible with both today's trucks, it also compatible all the way back to the Mack Legacy vehicles. This includes VMAC I, II, and III. However, if you have ever used the Premium Tech Tool software, you know how much of a nightmare it is. This one software program is designed to work with all Volvo equipment, engines, and trucks across the entire globe. Anytime you try to stuff that much into one package, you end up with the situation that Premium Tech Tool has. The program is large, complex, and very deep. It takes several hours to install on a good day, and it needs huge laptop resources to run properly. Through the years, they’ve had numerous issues and bugs to work out with the Mack Legacy vehicles.
