If you own a truck, no matter the brand, Fuso, Hino or Isuzu truck, etc, you need to play it safe when it comes to engine cooling. Thankfully Behr has a cooling system range that meets today’s demands. Truck and bus drivers require a cooling system that helps with fuel consumption, driving comfort and lower emissions.

The product range produced by Behr are known for their reliability, quality and long life, thanks to the expertise of the technicians and designers at Behr who are behind the scenes providing product development.

When it comes to high-quality aftermarket parts for your Volvo, you can’t ignore a Behr coolant radiator. The most essential part of any engine cooling system is the coolant radiator, which consists of a water tank, radiator core, and all the necessary connections. The radiator consists of core covers, a tube system, and tube headers. A more conventional coolant radiators tank is made from a glass/fibre reinforced polyamide, which is all sealed before being joined and crimped to the tube header. The Behr coolant radiator is all aluminium, light, compact and completely recyclable.

When heat is generated in the engine, the coolant absorbs this heat and expels it to the atmosphere via the radiator. Coolant radiators are generally installed at the front of the vehicle but on many buses have to be at the rear where air flow is more challenging.

The expansion tank is used to catch coolant that has expanded from the coolant system. When coolant temperatures rise the pressure inside the cooling system also rises as coolant expands. This is to help with the increases in pressure valves, located in the cap of the expansion tank open. When the temperature of the coolant returns to normal a vacuum form which allows for the tanks filler cap to open, the air then flows into the tank until the systems pre-set pressure is reached again.

The Condenser or radiator fan is an electric motor that has a flange-mounted fan attached and is usually mounted behind or in front of the condenser or radiator. They are used to remove the heat from the coolant via the airflow that is being generated. If your Volvo, Fuso, Hino or Isuzu truck has an installed air conditioning system, then a more powerful fan should be used.

The intercooler provides better performance giving your truck or bus better engine efficiency, lower fuel consumption, better speed range and a reduced thermal load on your engine. There are two types of cooling –

Indirect charge air cooling – the coolant flows through the intercooler, absorbs the heat and then transmits it back into the air.
Direct intercooling – the intercooler is installed in the front end of the engine and is then cooled by the wind.

There is an increased number of vehicles equipped with turbochargers these days, and since most modern vehicles with turbochargers also have intercoolers, there is a need for high-quality replacement radiators and intercoolers for Hino trucks due to damage caused by flying stones and accidents.
