FCA Diagnostic Authentication Tips and Tricks

Tyler Robertson here with Diesel Laptops and I want to talk to you about something today that may come up new for a lot of people and this has to do with 2018 and newer Fiat Chrysler. 

Right, who's Fiat Chrysler? Well, they own Dodge. 

So what happened here in model 2018 and newer, when you try to do certain commands or certain advanced things you'll see these things asking about field tests and authentication Diagnostics and you click the yes button there and they will ask for a username and password and give you a link. 

So what's going on here is really kind of unfortunate, but what it is, is the tool manufacturer needs to be authorized by Chrysler in order to do those commands. The great news is that on Chrysler's website you will see a list of all the tools that are authorized to do this and at the bottom down here you will see TEXA is authorized to allow you to do these advanced commands on Dodge and Chrysler vehicles. 

Now I want to show you a couple of quick tips and tricks on what you have to do when you see the authentication diagnosis prompt in IDC5.  

Register for an Account

If you've never done this before, go to the website to register for an account and you need to accept the guidelines that are in here. 

Accept to continue registration and when you get to this page fill in all this stuff up here yourself when you get down here again put your company name in here and for this VAT number, this is a tax number typically used by nine North American companies. Just put in all nines or all zeros or whatever you want. I did all zeros and it went through just fine. 

Please note that you will not be able to change the currency. The currency is stuck in Euro but that is fine. Once you have completed this section, hit accept and shortly after you will receive an email to verify your account. 

Verify your account and log In

The first time you log in, your password will not work so you will need to click the “forgot password” link and reset your password. 

Once your password is reset, login, go to your account and click the “Your Subscriptions” link in the menu. Here you will need to click the “Purchase New Subscription” button to view the available subscription options.

Choose a Subscription Option

For most things, all you will need to do is look in the Generic Diagnostic Tool Section. From there, you can either buy a one-day pass, a one-month pass, or a one-year pass. 

When you do start to do some of the commands you may need to buy an ECU pack. You can either buy a transaction where you can just simply provide your VIN and it will tell you how much it will cost for one event. 

You also have the option to purchase unlimited events during a limited time period. You can purchase unlimited events for one hour, one day, one month, or one year. 

Summary

Only a handful of tools are even allowed to do this kind of functionality with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and TEXA is one of them. If you run across this diagnosis authorization prompt in TEXA IDC5, simply click the link to go to FCA’s website, register, verify your account, and buy your subscription. After that, you will be able to do what you need to do.
