New Diesel Handheld Heavy-Duty Scan Tool with Regens Available Now

Now available from Diesel Laptops, the Diesel Handheld scanner is a simple to use Heavy-Duty scan tool that allows you to read and clear DTC’s, view live data, and perform DPF regens on most makes and models. 

The Diesel Handheld tool features a 4” LCD screen that will work in temperatures ranging from 14 degrees Fahrenheit to 122 degrees. It comes in a rugged carry case and includes the 6 pin, 9 pin, OBDII, and CAT 9 cable.

Simple to Use

In this video, Diesel Technician, Anthony, provides a brief overview of the tool and what's included in the box, then demonstrates how to use the scan tool to view data a force a regen.

Using this tool is very simple. To get started, plug the OBDII Cable into the OBDII port located at the top of the Diesel Handheld (image below). 

Next, connect either the 6-Pin, 9-Pin or Cat 9 Pin to the other end of the OBDII cable. Then connect to your vehicle. 

Once connected, you will have the option to choose either HD or EOBD.

Once you've made the selection, run a systems automatic search to find the systems on the vehicle. 

This then brings you to a menu where you can choose from the systems found on the truck. You can then choose the options to read or clear faults, freeze frame data or view live data.

Performing a Regen

Regens are simple and are accessed from the main menu by choosing “DPF Regen” and choosing your manufacturer from the list.

Historically any bi-directional functionality has been limited to more expensive tools on the market which do not fit everyone’s budget. We were able to confirm regen capabilities on Detroit, Cummins, Mack & Volvo, Isuzu, Paccar, and International Maxxforce engines.
